What is the Jungle Sports® system?
Jungle Sports ® was developed in order to combine the benefits of rehab treatment with an invigorating workout that can be enjoyed by anyone. The Jungle Sports® System integrates functional physiotherapy into your workout to maximise use of the important stabilising and global muscles.
Who can benefit from Jungle Sports®?
Jungle Sports® is great both in a group setting and as personal training. In a group, you will be coached through an energetic choreographed workout for full body conditioning and fat burning, while at the same time toning your muscles and improving your posture.
In a personal training session Jungle Sports® is adapted to meet your individual needs and goals and help you to:
- Lose weight
- Flatten your waistline
- Tone muscles
- Improve overall fitness
- Relieve backache or shoulder problems
- Improve posture
- Gain strength
What can you expect from Jungle Sports®?
Jungle Sports® for groups gives clients a fantastic choreographed workout that leaves them feeling taller, more flexible and generally invigorated. Over time the workouts will strengthen peripheral muscles like your arms and legs while also creating deep core stability.
Jungle Sports® is a great compliment to your regular Pilates class sessions and any other sporting activities you may do, as the method strengthens the stabilising muscles and improves your overall balance and agility.
Jungle Sports® for private clients will give you the same great workout as a group class but you will have the addition of specialised weak-link testing to determine any structural imbalances that may be causing bad postural habits or chronic difficulty with certain daily activities and movements. The exercises and any modifications will be selected specifically for your individual needs in order to improve any musculoskeletal problems that you may have been experiencing.
How is Jungle Sports® different?
Compared to Pilates you will find Jungle Sports® very challenging and it will feel like a much harder workout! In Pilates you become consciously aware of your body and learn to move correctly during your everyday life. With Jungle Sports®, however, the whole process is subconscious and happens automatically as part of the workout.
During a Jungle Sports® workout postural muscles will be activated because of the instability of the suspension equipment. This instability causes the intrinsic muscles around your joints to shake or shiver as you get closer to the limit of your stable work with each exercise. This shaking is in fact the muscles contracting and relaxing very quickly, so the neuromuscular pathways that control and monitor the intrinsic postural muscles are activated much more than they would be under normal stable circumstances.
This activation automatically gives control of the muscles back to the brain and spinal cord so that you can start using them properly in everyday life and in your sporting activities. Such instability is not found in most other workout methods, not even in most suspension training methods and gym workouts, even those done on gym balls or balance boards. This is because the instability has to cause very rapid shaking in order to work. Slower shaking of the muscles requires conscious control instead of subconscious control so it is far less effective.
